Landscape and People masks
Amit Trainin is one of Israel's top illustrators. As a child he was a member of a kibbutz. The word kibbutz means ‘gathering’; it is a unique Israeli type of settlement deeply rooted in the values of social, communal and cooperative principals. In his works he often describes the complex experiences of his childhood living there during the 70's. The masks were cut from a large cotton fabric, over which he digitally printed his illustrations. The illustrations describe the kibbutz life, the landscape and the people who lived around him in a small community where everyone knows everyone, and gossip is a big part of the human fabric.
