We will succeed in Cree syllabics mask
Derek Jagodzinsky, Cree designer, is the founder of Luxx Ready to Wear. During the first lockdown he cut masks from a printed textile he had designed and produced for his fashion line. The “we will succeed” Cree syllabics print, in a super large-scale version, is a phrase to encourage Indigenous peoples who have suffered from systemic racism. It has new meaning when worn as protection from the coronavirus, as he explained on Instragram, “’we will succeed’ is a mantra for all nations because in Cree culture we are all related.”
