Clothing the Pandemic

A Virtual Exhibition of COVID-19 Face Masks from Around the World

Stop The Spread of Racism Mask

At first glance this mask addresses health concerns, but on closer look it is a call to stop the spread of racism. During the pandemic, a surge in racist attacks targeting Asian communities demanded action. Since March, 2020, the Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice shared resources to support Asian Canadians. They printed and widely shared these masks, and ran social media campaigns, reminding everyone to speak up and take a stand against all types of racism.
