Abdel-Fatah El-Kasry Egyptian Comedian Mask

This mask is printed with a work by the Egyptian painter Adel El-Siwi (b.1952) featuring a portrait of the late Egyptian comedian Abdel-Fatah El-Kasry (1905–1964, also spelled Abd El Fatah El Quossary) surrounded by watermelon slices. Known for his works with elongated faces and his exploration of the relationship between animals and humans, El-Siwi draws inspiration from literature, popular culture and cinema. He has translated Leonardo da Vinci’s A Treatise on Painting, Paul Klee’s Bauhaus Lectures and other art historical texts into Arabic.
