Clothing the Pandemic

A Virtual Exhibition of COVID-19 Face Masks from Around the World

Ga’dang mask and ear protector

This beaded mask was made by Margareth Balansi from the women weavers of the Ga'dang ethnic group from Paracelis, Mt. Province. The Ga'dang are known for their beaded and elaborate cultural attire, and these conventions they apply to their masks. They further believe that the beads are able to repel the Coronavirus. The group also produced an ear protector for health workers.
