Clothing the Pandemic

A Virtual Exhibition of COVID-19 Face Masks from Around the World

Green earth mask

“Keeping in touch with the earth is a vital need. It nourishes the body and the mind,” says the artist Mohamed Mourabiti (b.1968), whose work is printed on this mask. It features green hills blooming with abstract plants resembling pierced arrows. Born in Marrakech and based in Tahannaout where he has established an arts centre, “Al-Maqam,” Mourabiti derives inspiration for his paintings, collages and sculptures from his Moroccan heritage and spirituality and his anchoring to the earth. He expresses himself through abstract forms and metaphors.
