Siapo is produced by soaking and beating lengths of the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree and has been made in Samoa for millennia. This reusable mask, made by American Samoan artist, and 4th generation siapo maker, Reggie Meredith Fitiao is a contemporary use of this ancestral material. Reggie decided to make masks to protect loved ones the pandemic prevented her from visiting. Paper mulberry is soft yet strong with an aromatic fragrance, perfect for face masks. The fabric lining and elastic ties provide facial comfort and extra protection.
