Turmeric-dyed mask

Some mask makers further enhance the protective qualities of their masks. In India’s Ayurvedic practices, the root of the turmeric plant (Curcuma longa) is believed to enhance energy, in addition to its well-known anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial powers. Turmeric root also provides a beautiful golden yellow dye. Arshia Bhargava and Avishek Mandel of the RIAS Jaipur label designed these elegant block-printed and quilted silk masks, choosing turmeric dye for both its aesthetic and medicinal qualities.
