Medicine Camo mask
Multidisciplinary twin artists, Christopher and Gregory Mitchell, of Born in the North, are inspired by their Mi’kmaq ancestry and Canadian upbringing. In 2019 they designed a winter camouflage textile representative of their culture for use in their products. It is made up of the four sacred medicines; Sage, Sweetgrass, Tobacco, and Cedar. The white background is the bark of the birch tree that plays an important role in traditional craft – baskets, quillwork, and starting fires. The healing and protective camo mask protects the wearer.
