Clothing the Pandemic

A Virtual Exhibition of COVID-19 Face Masks from Around the World

Mask by Aleksandra Zeltser

Driven from the needs of her colleagues, Aleksandra decided to make practical and comfortable masks that would stay on their necks even when not in need. In order to create as little waste as possible the masks and braid are made of one-piece of double layered cotton with pine wood beads. All the materials used in the process of making the masks were bought from small businesses in South Tel Aviv, which were in dire need of a livelihood at the time. The masks were a hit, leading the designer to work with Hirbawi Group in East Jerusalem. Courtesy of the designer.
