Dia Azzawi Mask

This mask is printed with the work of Iraqi-British artist Dia Azzawi (b.1939) and features a colour blocked pattern of angular and curved shapes in shades of brown, gold, purple, pink and green. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, and now living and working in London, UK, Azzawi is one of the pioneers of modern Arab art with his early training in archaeology and fine art. His paintings and sculptures are a celebration of Arab culture and he is best known as a colourist painter who blurs the boundaries between abstract, figural and calligraphic art forms.
